Two years ago, on March 25, Armenians bid last farewell to the
country’s Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan.

Today Serzh Sargsyan visited Komitas Pantheon accompanied by Armenian
top officials. Thousands of citizens also paid tribute to the memory
of the late Prime Minister.

"One cannot live a long or short life; one can lead a full or empty
life. Andranik Margaryan lived a short, but a full life,"

Navasard Archbishop Kchoyan, vicar of the Araratyan Diocese of the
Armenian Apostolic Church, said today after a memorial service.

Before the arrival of the top brass, Margaryan’s relatives, friends
and acquaintances laid wreaths to his tomb.

"Andranik Margaryan was fully devoted to his nation and to his
Motherland. He was a man of unyielding willpower who settled all tasks
set before him. He never preferred his personal interests to state
ones," says HHK board member Gagik Minasyan.

I am assured that Andranik Margaryan’s absence will be felt for
ever. As a political figure of high virtue Andranik Margaryan is
unmatched. Taking various top positions he was able to meet all his
commitments with dignity. Great was his patriotism and moral
posture. Andranik Margaryan serves as a good model for our future
generations," adds Gagik Minasyan.

"Andranik Margaryan had a constructive role in Armenia’s political
scene. He managed to take upon himself the task of bringing the public
life into a new and stable stage; Andranik Margaryan was a unique
conciliator between the authorities and the opposition. He could
neutralise the potential of public polarisation and antagonism," noted
HHK member Armen Ashotyan.

Vazgen Sargsyan’s brother, Armen Sargsyan had also come to pay homage
to the memory of Ex-Prime Minister’s memory.

"I have come to condole with Margaryan’s family. Surely, we all feel
Margaryan’s absence. Andranik Margaryan was a wonderful person, a
wonderful prime minister. He was a brilliant man in the direct sense of
the word. He will always be remembered as a dove of peace equally
respected by the authorities and opposition," said Armen Sargsyan.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
