Iran, Armenia to build joint railway

ISNA – Tehran

TEHRAN, Iran and Armenia have inked a Memorandum of Understanding to
build a direct railway between the two countries to increase the
volume of economic cooperation.

Armenian Transportation and Communications Minister Gurgen Sagsyan and
Iran’s Road and transportation Minister Hamid Behbahani
signed the MoU in Yerevan.

Most of the 470-kilometer railway lays in Armenia.

The project takes 5 years to be operated and costs 1.2 billion
dollars.

The final agreement of the venture will be stroke during Armenian
President Serge Sarkisian’s next visit to Tehran.
