Georgia to identify Armenia as "strategic partner" – foreign minister

Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze has said Georgia will
"definitely" identify Armenia as a strategic partner in the near
future. "Strategic relations between Georgia and Armenia will
definitely be codified in the near future," he told Rustavi-2 TV.

His remarks were featured in a report on Georgia’s new foreign policy
blueprint, which is currently being elaborated by the Foreign Ministry
in consultation with local political scientists.

In the report, Rustavi-2 said that the current working draft of the
new blueprint identifies Ukraine, Turkey and Azerbaijan – and not
Armenia – as Georgia’s strategic partners in the Caucasus-Black Sea
region.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
