The European Union will continue to work on peace and security in
the South Caucasus, EU Special Representative Peter Semneby told the
media in Baku on Monday.
Semneby described the regional situation as abnormal and promised
further efforts for opening the borders between Turkey and Armenia,
Russia and Georgia, and Azerbaijan and Armenia. This is extremely
important for the regional development and security, Semneby said.
The EU closely watches the Karabakh settlement process, he said.
The EU wishes to resolve this problem, so it supports the activity
of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE)
Minsk Group, Semneby said.
