AHMADINEJAD, SARGSYAN CALL FOR DEVELOPMENT OF TEHRAN-YEREVAN TIES

Tehran, April 13, IRNA – The Iranian and Armenian presidents stressed
the need to maintain Tehran-Yerevan relations during their joint
meeting here late Monday.

According to Presidential Office website, after a one-hour private
conversation on international and regional issues, President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad and President Serzh Sargsyan described bilateral ties as
deep and stable.

Referring to the two countries’ common views on many regional and
international issues, Ahmadinejad termed strengthening of cooperation
between Iran and Armenia as essential.

Underlining that dialogue, logic and justice should prevail in the
countries’ ties, he added that peace, friendship and brotherhood
should be established in the region.

Describing Sargsyan’s visit to Iran as effective in promoting bilateral
ties, Ahmadinejad said that a prosperous and advanced Armenia will
benefit the entire region.

Sargsyan, for his part, appreciated Iran’s contribution to Armenia’s
progress and development and said that Yerevan favors promoting
cooperation with Tehran in all fields.
