The Session of the Council of the CSTO Foreign Ministers held in
Yerevan

On April 16, the session of the Council of the CSTO Foreign Ministers
was held in Yerevan under the Chairmanship of Foreign Minister of
Armenia Edward Nalbandian.

The agenda of the meeting included actual problems of international
security, issues concerning coordination of foreign policy of
member-states of the organization, as well as main directions of CSTO
cooperation with international and regional organizations.

Ministers discussed and approved the text of draft Memorandum on
cooperation between the Secretaries of the CSTO and the UN. In his
remarks, Armenian Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of more
effective use of cooperation potential between the CSTO member-states.

The participants of the session had an efficient discussion on
comprehensive partnership in different areas of the CSTO activity,
touched upon the process of creation of the CSTOâ??s Rapid
Reaction Forces.

In the course of the meeting, the issues on efforts aimed at the
stabilization of situation in Afghanistan by the CSTO member-states
were also discussed.

After the session, joint press conference of Foreign Minister of
Armenia Edward Nalbandian and the CSTO Secretary General Nikolai
Bordyuzha took place.
