INFORMATION OF THE NKR STATE COMMISSION ON PRISONERS OF WAR, HOSTAGES AND MISSING PERSONS

On May 10, 2009, 9:45 am, an Azerbaijani citizen was seized, while
passing to the Karabakh side, in the direction of the Ashaghy
Abdurakhmanly settlement, Fizuli region, by an NKR Defense Army
serviceman on duty.
The detainee was dressed in a military uniform of the Azerbaijani
armed forces, without any rank badges, and had no arms or identifying
documents.
He introduced himself as junior sergeant Hajiyev Anar Khanbaba-ogly,
born in 1990 in the village of Vardenis, Armenia’s Vardenis region.
The corresponding structures of NKR are clarifying the incident’s
reasons.
The NKR State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing
Persons informed the ICRC and OSCE Offices accredited in Stepanakert
about the incident. The same day, an ICRC representative visited
the detainee.
