Baku will discuss Karabakh status after removal of Armenian troops,
Azeris return
BAKU May 15
The legal status of Nagorno-Karabakh could be discussed only after the
Armenian side fulfils certain terms, Azeri Foreign Ministry spokesman
Elhan Polukhov said.
"Only after the Armenian side removes its troops from Azerbaijan’s
occupied territory and creates conditions for the return of refugees
and displaced persons, who could co-exist with the Armenian community
of Nagorno-Karabakh, will the Azeri side move to the next stage – the
discussion of the legal status of Nagorno-Karabakh," Polukhov told
Interfax on Thursday.
"Thus far, the Armenian leadership’s position is a demonstration of a
destructive approach and political rhetoric, which does not benefit
the process," the spokesman said.
