Russian president Medvedev told journalists in Khabarovsk on May
22 that the Eastern Partnership should not be a partnership against
Russia. He expressed his hope that this partnership will be mostly
about economic cooperation, in which case Russia would have nothing
against it, although of course Russia should be conscious of some
issues.

Of the six participant countries of the Eastern Partnership, Moscow
has had a military confrontation only with Georgia. With Armenia,
Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine relations are close to normal,
although only Armenia and Belarus have especially close relations
with Russia.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
