DIRECT CONTACTS BETWEEN ARMENIAN, RUSSIAN REGIONS IMPORTANT, ARMENIAN PRESIDENT STATES

RA President Serzh Sargsyan attaches special importance to the
consolidation of direct contacts between the political units of
Armenia and Russia, reported the RA presidential press service.

At his meeting with Governor of the Yaroslavl region of Russia
Sergey Vakhrukov, President Sargsyan expressed his satisfaction with
the dynamically developing Armenian-Russian cooperation in various
fields. He stressed the importance of consolidating direct contacts
between the political units of the two states and of expanding
cooperation.

The Armenian leader welcomed Governor Vakhrukov’s initiative to create
conditions for active business contacts between the Armavir region
of Armenia and the Yaroslav region of Russia. Sargsyan pointed out
the importance of combine the sides’ economic potential to specify
the markets the countries can be represented on.

Sergey Vakhrukov pointed out that Yaroslavl and Armavir are
actively cooperating and have a great potential for expanding
their contacts. With this end in view, the regions will open their
representations to effectively exchange information and specify the
areas of cooperation.

Vakhrukov also pointed out that the Armenian community in Yaroslavl
enjoys authority, and many Armenian businessmen are implementing
serious programs in the region.

During RF President Dmitry Medvedev’s o fficial visit to Armenia
last October the Armavir regional administration and the Yaroslav
regional government signed an agreement in trade, economy, science
and culture.
