CSTO FOREIGN MINISTERS HIGHLY ASSESS THE RESULTS REGISTERED DURING ARMENIA’S CHAIRMANSHIP IN THE ORGANIZATION

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan who was in Moscow on a
working visit took part June 14 in the session of Council of Foreign
Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

Media relations department of Armenian Foreign Ministry told Armenpress
that during the session issues related to the different spheres of
the activity of the organization have been discussed and a number of
decisions on the further steps towards the further fortification and
improvement of the organization have been made.

During the session the Armenian FM delivered a summary report on the
conducted steps towards the juxtaposition of the foreign policies
of the CSTO member states during the Armenian chairmanship in the
organization. E. Nalbandyan referred to the works conducted since 2008
– the meetings of CSTO Foreign Ministers in Helsinki and New York on
the initiative of Armenia, consultations of CSTO ambassadors in the
third countries as well as to other events directed towards combing
the efforts of the member states.

The CSTO Foreign Ministers highly assessed the results registered
during Armenia’s chairmanship in the organization pointing out to
the efficiency of the implementation of the mechanisms of foreign
policy juxtaposing. They have discussed the package of documents
to be presented to the Collective Security Council including the
documents on the process of implementation of the decision on "The
CSTO collective forces of operative reaction".

During the session of Council of Ministers the participants also
referred to the issues of enhancement of cooperation between CSTO
and international organizations. Following to that a joint session
of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers and Council of Defense
Ministers took place during which a number of documents which will
be presented to the session of Collective Security Council have been
discussed. Afterwards the session of Council of Foreign Ministers
continued with the extended staff. On the same day E. Nalbandyan
in the staff of the delegation headed by Armenian President Serzh
Sargsyan took part in the session of Collective Security Council.
