The newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Brazil to
Armenia Maria Nicodemos presented her credentials to President Serzh
Sargsyan today.

Congratulating the Ambassador on assuming office, the President said
Armenia is interested in deepening the relations with Brazil and
serious potential and grounds exist for it.

According to Serzh Sargsyan, there are at least four preconditions
that allow to expand the Armenian-Brazilian cooperation. In particular,
the two countries have no disagreements. Brazil is a powerful country
with a powerful economy, and the two countries produce goods that
could be in demand on each other’s markets. At last, the Brazilian
Armenian community is a serious link between Armenia and Brazil.

Ambassador Nicodemos noted with satisfaction that Brazil was the first
Latin American country to open an Embassy in the South Caucasus,
namely Armenia and her country intends to take practical steps to
develop the existing cooperation. The diplomat specially underlined
the contribution of the small Brazilian Armenian community to the
development of that cooperation.

The parties agreed that the commodity turnover between Armenia and
Brazil had remarkably increased over the past years.

President Sargsyan hailed the effective cooperation between the two
countries within international organizations and the balanced position
of Brazil on sensitive issues of our region.
