Residents of the Turkish town of Kayseri have come out against their
fellow townsmen who are prepared to entertain Armenian football fans
prior to the Turkey-Armenia football match scheduled for October. They
think the Armenians should first abandon their current stance,
vacate occupied Azerbaijani territories, including Upper Garabagh,
and give up so-called Armenian genocide claims.

Kamal Onder, a Kayseri education official, said local people were
not against the match being played in the town, but said residents
would not house Armenians in their homes.

"The match can take place in Kayseri. This is important for our
town. However, there were also ideas that we should invite Armenian
fans to our homes. We are against that. They can stay in hotels and
then leave. We can`t invite people whose country has unleashed a
tragedy in Garabagh," he said.

The match is part of the 2010 World Cup qualification leg. The sides
have already played in Yerevan and the game had Turkish President
Abdullah Gul in attendance, who was invited by Armenian President
Serzh Sarkisian.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
