Yerevan, 4 August: Armenia has managed to temporarily soften the
consequences of the global economic crisis owing to the loans received
at the price of concessions in the negotiation process on the Nagornyy
Karabakh [conflict], the coordinator of the opposition Armenian
National Congress (ANC), Levon Zurabyan, said in Yerevan today.

Zurabyan expressed concern over the "established traditions of
signing secret agreements" on both issues: the normalization of
Armenian-Turkish relations and the Karabakh conflict settlement,
Mediamax reports.

According to the ANC coordinator, international organizations and
representatives of foreign countries recognize ANC as an alternative
to the incumbent authorities and from time to time brief the congress
on negotiations carried out with the authorities.

"Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has found himself misled, since he
was sure that the concessions in the Nagornyy Karabakh negotiations
would have positive influence on the normalization of Armenian-Turkish
relations, which, as time showed, never happened", Zurabyan said.

He also expressed concern over the fact that "even after announcing
amnesty, 23 political prisoners are still remaining under the arrest".

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
