Azeri court jails four servicemen who spied for Armenia
BAKU Aug 7
Azerbaijan’s military tribunal for serious crimes has given long-term
prison sentences to a group of servicemen found guilty of spying for
Armenia.
"The tribunal has issued various prison sentences to Lieutenant
Khagani Dzhavadov, Junior Sergeants Elchin Mamedov and Samir Tagiyev,
as well as soldier Suleiman Aliyev, convicting them of ties with the
Armenian intelligence service," a spokesman for the tribunal’s
secretariat told Interfax.
Dzhavadov and Mamedov were sentenced to 15 years in prison each, and
Tagiyev and Aliyev to 12 years each.
According to the criminal case materials, officer Dzhavadov conspired
with certain persons and forced Azeri servicemen to cooperate with
Armenian secret service agents.
