U.S. co-chair: Armenia must return seven regions to Azerbaijan

Armenia must return seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh to
Azerbaijan, OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair Matthew Bryza said.
`Five regions must be returned immediately and the remaining two with
time. It can take up to five years. Moreover, international
peacekeeping forces the composition of which will be determined by the
sides themselves must be deployed in the conflict zone,’ Bryza said.
Under the Madrid Principles, the security of Nagorno-Karabakh
population must be guaranteed and temporary status must be defined
until referendum is held, he said.
He said Nagorno-Karabakh will be resolved based on three fundamental
principles ` territorial integrity, self-determination and non-use of
force.
`The sides should find solution based on the three fundamental
principles of the Helsinki Act. This includes right of population to
self-determination, territorial integrity and non-use of force,’ he
said.
