ArmInfo-Turan. On August 6 the 17-year-old son of the political expert
Arastun Orujlu was called to the National Security Ministry (NSM). An
unknown man called his mobile phone and
demanded that he should come to the NSM Nasimi Department. Arastun
Orujlu did not allow his son to go anywhere.

"A Ceyhun called him first. Then a captain who did not name himself did
this. They demanded my son should come to NSM. I did not allow my son
to go and asked to bring a written notification. I said that my son is
not 18 yet and he can be interrogated only in the presence of a lawyer
or his parents. NSM must not call people by phone. One of the men
threatened that he would take my son with the help of police. I think
it is an open threat," Turan was told by the political expert.

Orujlu considers that the persecution could be caused by the SMS-voting
during Eurovision- 2009, when his son voted for the representatives of
Armenia. He said that other people who voted for Armenia had also been
called to NSM. Orujlu did not say why he reported about the August 6
event so late. It was not possible to get comments from the NSM either.

Eurovision took place in May; 43 people voted for Armenia from
Azerbaijan, Radio Liberty reported. If he was really called because of
that, then it is brutal violation of the freedom of expression and
testifies about total control over the life of citizens and absence of
any secret of communication.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
