DUSHANBE TO HOST MEETING OF CIS CULTURAL COOPERATION COUNCIL

Baku, Aug 11, 2009 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) The regular
meeting of CIS Council for Cultural Cooperation has been held today in
Dushanbe. The meeting will mainly focus on Cupolas of Commonwealth:
Libraries program. The purpose of the programme is to promote the
international development of cultures, set up the single information
network for science, education and culture. The programme will allow
researchers and students to get an access to the electronic libraries
of dissertations of CIS countries and the Russian State Library.
Some 11 virtual reference rooms opened in the national libraries of
Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova,
Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in 2008. Several new virtual reference rooms
are expected to open later this year in the national libraries of
Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Furthermore, the Russian Book Centers are set
to open in the national libraries of Azerbaijan, Armenia and
