"At this moment the question of going or not going is the topic
of discussion. The issue is being discussed both in Turkish and
American media. Now we are in pause",- today stated Karen Beckaryan,
Eurointegration NGO Chairman.
In the same time he mentioned that there has not been any vital change
in the Armenian -Turkish relations within the last one and half months.
By his words, on the one hand we have the RA president’s decision,
stating the conditions in presence of which he will leave for Turkey;
on the other hand from the Turkish side there is silence. But the
silence the speaker observed as the visual side only, in reality,
according to Bekaryan it is possible that talks are being held.
"This question is still hanging in the air. We have spoken many times
about the interests. We have witnessed some indirect developments, but
none of us knows in which stage the talks are. I think that attending
the football game will be necessary", – said Karen Bekaryan stressing
that in case of leaving for Turkey the Media and society should provide
corresponding information about the reason of the accepted decision.
The political scientist is sure that if Serzh Sargsyan will leave for
Turkey it still will not mean that all the questions with Turkey are
settled or "the good will of Turkey has reached God knows where."
"October is not behind the mountains. In September some questions
will be fixed. If there is no vital change in a month going there
will be necessary", – noted Bekaryan.
He also advised to observe many issues that from the first
sight seem not to have any connection with the Armenian – Turkish
relations. Kurdish issue for example, the statements concerning the
Cyprus process, the first steps of Turkey as a gas corridor as well
as the inner relations of Turkish opposition and government.
