TWO RAILWAY ACCIDENTS IN ARMENIA: NO VICTIMS

On September 12, there was an emergency call from South-Caucasus
Railways CJSC Vanadzor service advised that the last two cars of a
seven-carriage passenger train came off its railings while on its
route from Yerevan, Armenia, to Batumi, Georgia, at around 5:20am.
As per the Armenian Rescue Service of the Republic of Armenia’s
Ministry of Emergency Situations, the response force of the district
rescue department left for the scene.
When they arrived at the scene, they found that the cars which had
come off the railings had already been separated from the train, the
passengers were placed in other cars and the train continued its route.
Accident recovery services performed by railway workers in Vanadzor
ended at around 10:30 pm. No one died and no one was injured.
The next day, on September 13 at 6:52 pm, while a train on the
Gyumri-Yerevan route was passing the Ani station, thunder striked
a high-tension electrical cable, causing a risk for passengers. As
a result, train routes were interrupted; fortunately, there were
no victims.
At 9:30 pm, railway specialists repaired the defective cable, and
trains continued along their route.
