A group of Diocesan Clergy, Lay Leadership, and Diocesan Staff
Members, Headed by His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate
of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America,
attended a special `Home Blessing’ ceremony for the new location of
the Armenian Consulate General in Los Angeles, located in the City of
Glendale.

Consulate Staff members, headed by His Excellency Grigor Hovannissian,
Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Los Angeles, greeted His
Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, His Eminence Archbishop Vatche
Hovsepian, Joseph Kanimian, Esq., Chair of the Diocesan Council, and
several other Diocesan Clergy, Staff as well Lay Leadership to the new
location of the Armenian Consulate at 1000 North Central Ave., #200,
in Glendale, California.

The `Home Blessing’ of the New Consulate General Office began with
joint recitation of the `Lord’s Prayer,’ followed by chanting of
hymns, Psalms and readings from the Gospel of John. His Eminence
Archbishop Hovnan Derderian officiated over the ceremony.

The Primate congratulated His Excellency Grior Hovannissian, Consul
General, and his staff for their efforts in relocating the Consulate
General to Glendale, and wished them all success in their mission in
the greater Los Angeles area. The Primate conveyed the warm greetings
and blessings of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and
Catholicos of All Armenians, to the Consul General of Armenia in the
greater Los Angeles area.

The Consul General expressed his deep appreciation to the Primate for
officiating over the `Home Blessing’ ceremony of the new Consulate
General Office in Glendale, hoping that with the blessings of His
Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian and assisting Diocesan Clergy the
Consulate General would begin a new and successful chapter in its
history in the greater Los Angeles area, California and several other
western States.

A reception was held following the ceremony.

The Western Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America, providing
spiritual guidance and leadership to the Armenian Apostolic community,
is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization comprised of more
than 50 churches in 16 western states. It was established in 1898 as
the Diocese of the Armenian Church encompassing the entire United
States and Canada. In 1927 the Western Diocese was formed to
exclusivly serve the western United States.
