/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Information about the "Project Russia" plan
is likely to be a personal opinion of the magazine, Alexander
Sotnichenko , leading analyst of the St. Petersburg Center for Study
of Modern Middle East told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, commenting on
information disseminated by the Italian Limes magazine. According
to the latter, Putin and Medvedev probably develop a plan called
"Project Russia". According to him, it is likely that the publication
has expressed a general opinion of the West about Russia.

Once Russia was an empire, uniting all countries of the region
around. At this moment it is expected the same from Moscow, "
the Russian scientist said. "Right now, Russia cannot offer the
ideology of unification to its neighboring countries, such a project is
impossible," Alexander Sotnichenko said, noting that Moscow’s relations
with neighboring countries play the major role. Russia is in strained
relations with Belarus and has changed its policy towards Ukraine.

Italian journal Limes circulated information that Putin and
Medvedev may develop a plan called "Project Russia". According to the
magazine covering geopolitics, the project includes rehabilitation of
particular areas of Russia: Transdniestria, South-Eastern Ukraine and
Kyrgyzstan. The project involves the idea of creating "Russian Union":
with Belarus, Central Ukraine, Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, Kazakhstan
and Tajikistan and conclusion of a military alliance with Uzbekistan.
