ArmInfo. Our initiative to invite president of Turkey to Armenia
and start the negotiating process for establishment of diplomatic
relations and opening of the border between Turkey and Armenia is
not a specific programme, it is most likely an attempt to create the
relatively bearable situation when a dialogue is possible between
the neighboring states in the 21-st century, Armenian President Serzh
Sargsyan said in an interview with Russian TV programme.
The president recalled that such attempts were earlier as well. ,
– Sargsyan said and added that the present process differs from the
previous ones by the fact that it is the most open which Armenia had
with Turks ever before.
The president also said that there is contradiction, enmity and
distrust between the two societies. , – Serzh Sargsyan said and added
if some day we manage to normalize the relations, for that we need
not only political will of the leaders of Armenia and Turkey but
also involvement of the two societies in the process, which should
be aware of the details of settlement.
The president recalled that . He thinks that the two football games
between Armenia and Turkey became a composing part of the political
process, which is still developing and everything depends on this
development.
