Independent Media will appear in Armenia when free economy is
established, shared his view Aravot’s chief editor Aram Abrahamyan.

"No free economy – no independent media," he said, adding that in
Armenia media "shadow financing" grew to a large size.

"If there is a merchant who imports sugar from Ukraine and can sell it
as a monopolist then it is very possible he doesn’t need advertising
but he needs "shadow financing" not to be disturbed."

Mr. Abrahamuyan also believes that another serious item is issue of
professionalism in media. According to him, some media can afford
swearing against officials.

"If one doesn’t have arguments he starts swearing and labeling. It’s
necessary to get good upbringing at home in order not to swear,"
he said adding that those actions do not remain without publicity
although do not carry any information.

"You know, this newspaper will be sold well."

Generally speaking about journalists’ professionalism Mr. Abrahamyan
has marked current situation as better than 10 years ago.

"Now there are desires to develop skills. Another thing is whether
we success or not. Last decade marks progress in professionalism."
