YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 24, NOYAN TAPAN. Opening the Armenian-Turkish border
may have a considerable impact on Armenia’s economy, Chairman of the
RA State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition Ashot
Shahnazarian said during the September 24 press conference, noting
that it will result in a fall of prices and elimination of monopolies
and also promote competition in various sectors of the economy.

"There is no restriction on the entrance of goods from Turkey to
Armenia today as these goods are brought through Georgia. With the
border’s opening, our opportunities, especially export opportunities,
will increase," the commission chairman underlined.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
