Youth From Across Country to Compete in Decades old Tournament in
San Diego

GLENDALE-The 36th annual AYF Olympics, a long-standing tradition that
brings together Armenian-American youth from across the country for
a weekend of sports competition, will be held in San Diego during
Thanksgiving weekend, from November 27 to 29.

The Olympic Games are being hosted by the Armenian Youth Federation’s

seaside Paradise Point Resort and Spa located in the beautiful city
of San Diego, CA (1404 W. Vacation Rd.).

Activities will begin Friday at 3:00P.M. and will conclude Sunday
at 2:00P.M.

"The Olympics is a great way to spend your Thanksgiving weekend
along with fellow Armenian-Americans from various parts of the US,"
said David Arakelyan, the Roupen Chapter’s Chairman. "Glendale AYF
members are very excited about this year’s Olympics and are doing
everything to make this a memorable experience for everyone involved."

Teams this year will compete in soccer, basketball, and volleyball in
a quest to win first place in the prestigious competition. In addition
to the games, social events will also be held throughout the weekend,
including a Friday night beach party and bonfire, as well as a Sunday
night dinner dance at the resort with AYF Alumni. Participants
will also have an opportunity to explore various local sites and
attractions.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
