OPPOSITION WORLD
October 6, 2009
According to well-informed sources of information, the authorities
are actively working on establishing a "joint opposition" or "third
power" as they have planned long before. According to their tentative
scenario, they are going to unite three traditional political parties –
the ARF, RAK, SDHK and Heritage parties.
According to our information the SDHK has rejected to join this plan
and the government is actively working to press on this political
party to work for them. Prime minister Tigran Sargsyan is the one
responsible for the implementation of this plan. Last week he met with
the secretary of the SDHK board Sargis Achemyan, who was in Armenia on
a visit. It is worth mentioning that in the past Tigran Sargsyan was
able to divide the HRAK and establish a new political party from it,
which was named Armenia-RAK. They have already solved the problem of
involving the ARF and Heritage in this format and now they have to
convince the SDHK. According t our information, Achemyan has agreed
to join the mentioned political powers and promised to mobilize the
powers, however the Armenian office of this party, which is a part
of the Armenian National Congress, is against this decision. The
secretary of the Armenian office of the SDHK Lyudmila Sargsyan told
our reporter that they are against any possibility of cooperating
with the authorities and did not reject the rumors that they had
received such suggestion from a traditional party. According to our
information, Achemyan has promised to the prime minister to reach this
goal of cooperation by all means. By the way, according to the same
source of information, this new opposition force will be sponsored
by businessman Barsegh Beglaryan. It is hard to say whether the
authorities will be able to establish this fake opposition or no. It
is not excluded that they may fire Lyudmila Sargsyan from the party
(as the Heritage recently did with some people) and recruit someone
with active appearance to demonstrate pro-opposition appearance to
the external world. With such policy the authorities are proving that
they don’t give a damn about the Diaspora, joint power, and national
unity as they say and assure in their speeches, especially on the
day of the Genocide commemoration.
