/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The conference on "Denial and Democracy in Europe"
took place under the aegis of Elmar Brok, on Tuesday 6 October in
the European Parliament, Brussels. The conference aimed at raising
awareness on the true nature of Genocides’ denials and on the threats
they cast on democracy.

This conference came in the scope of the adoption of the Framework
Decision against Racism & Xenophobia by the European Council of
December 2008. The Member States have to transpose the provisions
of this Framework Decision in their national legislations in a two
years-period.

The conference helped disclosing what is really at stake in the
struggle against ideologies which ravaged Europe in the past and which
are still alive under various forms. The dialectic between denial
of genocide, democracy and freedom of expression was particularly
highlighted, EÐ~PFJD reported.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
