Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev – APA. Parliamentarians made speeches on the
current issues in today’s sitting, APA reports. Head of Azerbaijani
delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe,
MP Samad Seyidov briefed about the visit of the parliamentarians
to Turkey. According to him, they met with the representatives of
government and opposition in Turkey and added that Turkey is a big
state with its oddities. On the one hand, Turkey is struggling against
PKK, on the other hand, wants to send a Kurdish song to Eurovision,
is on friendly terms with both Israel and Syria.

The parliamentarian said Turkish and Azerbaijani public should be
careful. Samad Seyidov said humiliation of Azerbaijani flags, burning
of some Azerbaijani symbols was condemned in Turkey.

Speaker Ogtay Asadov also spoke about Turkey-Azerbaijan relations.

"Turkey’s flag was displayed on the highest place in Azerbaijan-Russia
football match in Baku. As I have once said, authorities change, but
peoples live forever. Some try to make provocation between Turkey and
Azerbaijan. These forces are worse than Armenians. I felt injured,
when I saw that Azerbaijan’s flag was humiliated in Turkey. One could
take and put it somewhere else," he said.

MP Aynur Guliyeva spoke about the attitude of Azerbaijani opposition
towards Turkey.

"In 2003, the opposition declared Turkey its enemy, as the latter
did not give support to Isa Gambar. Now it has changed. I advise
the opposition to be with the people, authorities under the present
circumstances. Turkish opposition is more active than our opposition
concerning this issue," she said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
