SYDNEY, OCTOBER 21, NOYAN TAPAN. The Armenian National Committee of
Australia (ANC Australia) has announced His Excellency Ara Papian,
the former Armenian Ambassador to Canada, as the international guest
for the second annual ANC Australia Advocacy Week this November. ANC
Australia Advocacy Week, which runs from November 16-22, will include
a series of activities and events designed to explain the importance
of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

According to information released by ANC Armenia, Ara Papian, a former
diplomat at the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, rose to prominence
as Ambassador to Canada when the country’s government passed a motion
recognizing the Armenian Genocide.

At the ANC Australia Annual Banquet on November 20, Mr. Papian will
be joined by the Hon. Michael Atkinson MP, who was the chief sponsor
of the South Australian Legislative Assembly’s motion recognizing
the Armenian Genocide in April this year.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
