Yerevan (Yerkir) – Speaking at a news conference on October 24, Armen
Rustamyan, the ARF Supreme Body of Armenia representative, said that
the ARF would work to become a full-fledged alternative to the regime.
This means that the party, along with the national issues, will also
address other issues of that are of concern for the Armenian people.
He said his party is expecting new proposals – as well as criticism –
concerning its platform.
"When cooperating with other parties on our plans, the national issues
will be of pivotal significance," Rustamyan said. "The success of the
platform will largely depend on the extend of society’s acceptance
and sharing of our approaches."
Speaking on the opening of the Armenian-Turkish border and the
opinions that Armenia would not develop unless the border opens,
Rustamyan said: "We don’t share that opinion and we have said that
before doing that we should use our internal resources, and the county
should be democratised and justice should be established."
The Armenian-Turkish rapprochement efforts may result in the change
of regime, but for the ARF, the top priority today is to prevent the
ratification of the protocols by the parliament, Rustamyan said.
