Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received the delegation
led by Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Turkish
Parliament Murat Mercan, the press service of Foreign Ministry of
Azerbaijan told Trend News.

Murat Mercan noted the importance of Azerbaijan for Turkey, stressing
the importance of cooperation between the parliaments of two countries.

Touching upon the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,
Mercan, remembering the words of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan
and Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmed Davudoglu, stressed that without
solution of this conflict, the opening of borders between Turkey
and Armenia is impossible, and protocols will not be ratified in the
parliamentary committee of Turkey.

"There is a very simple solution to the conflict – it is Armenia’s
implementation of UN, OSCE and PACE resolutions," Mercan said.

In his turn, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov spoke
about the current state of negotiations on Armenian-Azerbaijani
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement. Reminding the reasons for closing
borders between Turkey and Armenia, Mammadyarov said that only after
liberation of occupied Azerbaijani territories, it will be possible
to restore peace, security and communication in the region.

Mammadyarov also expressed regret of the people of Azerbaijan on the
crisis with the flag in Bursa and welcomed the fact of punishing the
perpetrators of this. The meeting also covered the issues of interest
to both parties.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
