SCR FREIGHT TRAFFIC COMPRISED 146.1 % IN OCTOBER

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ In October, 2009, South Caucasian Railways CJSC
fulfilled its freight traffic plan by 146.1 %. Freight delivery thus
comprised 80448,4 freight/1 km, instead of the planned 55058,7/1 km,
the company’s press service reports.

Export volumes totaled 47.4%, making up 25.9 thousand tons instead
of the planned 54.6 thousand.

Import volumes comprised 150.3% or 178.9 thousand tons, instead of
the planned 119 thousand.

As to internal freight traffic, it comprised 150.3% or 178.9 thousand
tons instead of the planned 70.5 thousand.

Such growth is first of all conditioned by flexible tariff policy
and permanent enhancement of transportation services.

South Caucasian Railways CJSC is a 100% subsidiary of Russian Railways
CJSC. Under a concessionary agreement dated February 13, 2008,
Armenian Railways CJSC was handed over to company’s concessionary
management. Agreement was signed for the period of 30 years, with
possible extension of additional 10 years.
