Do we manage to maintain our national features under the conditions
of the current globalization? "There is indeed a problem. This
globalization process will first of all swallow the nations with
comparatively week culture. We are also in danger," President of the
Union of Artists of Armenia Karem Aghamyan told a press conference
today.

"On one hand we easily accept and digest what the West offers. On
the other hand we wonder how we lost our national values," he said.

According to Karem Aghamyan, the crisis has not affected the Union
of Artists. "We do not feel the crisis, since we have always been in
crisis. The Union of Artists of Armenia survives by renting out some
rooms of the building. The Union will perhaps perish if one of the
renters leaves," he said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
