/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The Council of Europe is interested in the swift
settlement of frozen conflicts, in particular Nagorno Karabakh,
Slovenian Foreign Minister Samuel Zbogar said during a press
conference after handing over the Committee of Ministers chairmanship
to Switzerland, Trend News reported.
"First of all, I should say that all frozen conflicts, in particular
Nagorno Karabakh, should be settled as soon as possible," he said.
"All parties, including the Council of Europe, are interested. But
Azerbaijan and Armenia should seek for ways to resolve the problem. We
have seen this during the Russian-Georgian war last year. Frozen
conflicts can turn into a hot spot with time, what can be very
dangerous."
The Slovenian FM said the Council of Europe can create favorable
conditions to speed up the settlement process.
"The Council of Europe can do a lot to create favorable ground to speed
up the process," he said. "The Council of Europe can also assist in
strengthening inter-regional cooperation in the South Caucasus. The
Eastern Partnership between the Council of Europe and South Caucasus
and other countries was established for this reason. We expect reforms
and development from these nations."
