NATURE PROTECTION MINISTER BANS COMMERCIAL FISHING IN LAKE SEVAN

YEREVAN, December 8, /ARKA/. Armenian nature protection minister Aram
Harutyunian signed a decree banning commercial fishing in Armenia’s
largest lake of Sevan from December 7 to January 15.

The press service of the ministry said officials in Gegharkunik
province, where the lake is, police and the ministry have developed
a joint plan of actions to implement the decision.

Particularly, all roads leading to the lake, will be blocked and
round the clock check points will be established. Police will also
raid markets in Yerevan to detain poachers.
