Iran is ready to mediate in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,
Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said in Tehran today
after meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov.

The situation in the South Caucasus and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict
have become a major topic in the talks between the Azerbaijani and
Iranian foreign ministers.

"We have discussed many issues of bilateral and regional cooperation,"
Mammadyarov said at a press conference during his official visit
to Tehran.

He thanked Iran for its fair position voiced in the international
organizations on Nagorno-Karabakh.

"Iran is our neighbor. We hope Tehran will continue making efforts
to restore peace and stability in the region," Mammadyarov said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
