The probability that Turkey will ratify the Armenian – Turkish
protocols before the NKR conflict settlement is very little, said
Stepan Demirchyan the head of the People’s Party of Armenia on the
conference today.

The speaker mentioned that he is not against the improvement process of
the Armenian – Turkish relations, but it shouldn’t harm the national
interest of the people. He thinks that the signed protocols do not
correspond with the interests of the Armenians.

According to S. Demirchyan the only mentioning about the sub-commission
"touches the dignity of the nation".

"It is really unacceptable as by this way the process of international
recognition of the Armenian Genocide is ceased", – mentioned the
speaker adding that the pressures increase in both Armenian – Turkish
relations and the NKR issue settlement process.

"It is obvious that the big countries are more interested in getting
quick solution in those problems. In this situation we really need a
consolidation; we should overcome and reveal the moral atmosphere. It
should be done only through correct steps", – he mentioned.

The head of the People’s Party of Armenia also said that his party
doesn’t think the Madrid principles are an achievement of the Armenian
diplomacy.

"It is not an achievement as well and we shouldn’t call this indistinct
notification about the referendum an achievement", – he added.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
