Synopsys Activities in Armenia Opens Up Big Prospects for Local IT

SYNOPSYS ACTIVITIES IN ARMENIA OPENS UP BIG PROSPECTS FOR LOCAL IT
DEVELOPMENT

YEREVAN, MARCH 4. ARMINFO. Armenia’s President Robert Kocharyan met
today with Vice President of Synopsys company Rich Goldman.

Goldman told Kocharyan about Synopsys long-term plans in Armenia this
including personnel training. He said that many specialists have shown
interest in Synopsys activities in Armenia and want to work in the
country.

Kocharyan welcomed Synopsys work in Armenia and says that it is very
important for IT development in the country. He noted that the
company’s training programs will greatly contribute to this
development and the acitivities of such a big and prestigious company
in the country is a good investment in its new business culture
formation.

In Oct 2004 the world leader in electronic design of automatized
technologies Synopsys Inc set up Synopsys Armenia on the basis of Leda
Design and Monterey Arset (both Armenian-US companies). Recently
Synopsys provided its Armenian branch with $90 mln worth software for
designing intellectual property units for digital, analogue and
combined signal chips. Synopsys Armenia employs 150 people and is
planning to enroll 110-200 students this year.
