/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Armenian press in Egypt has a long history. As
Dr. Suren Bayramyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter in Cairo, the
Armenian periodicals are very diverse in style and subject matter:
there are daily newspapers, weeklies, magazines, children’s magazines;
every traditional Armenian party has its own press organ.

"In 2005, the Armenian press in Egypt celebrated its 140th
anniversary. The first Armenian newspaper "Armaveni" (Palm tree)
was published on March 16, 1865, more than 165 titles of periodicals
were published since then, " Mr. Bayramian said.

Dr. Bayramian published a book timed to 140th anniversary of the
Armenian press, highlighting all Armenian newspapers and magazines
of Egypt and Alexandria. He was awarded the Medal of Echmiadzin St.

Mesrop Mashtots in 1999 and the Medal of the Armenian General
Benevolent Union (AGBU).

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
