40 Armenian troops leave for Afghanistan

15:15 / 01/09/2010January 9, solemn farewell ceremony of 40 Armenian
peacekeepers leaving for Afghanistan took place in Yerevan. First they
will go to Germany to undergo 4-week training and later will leave for
Afghanistan.

Armenian contingent includes 36 infantrymen, 3 officers and a medical
officer. They will exercise peacekeeping mission within the
International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and join German
military unit submitted to the Regional Command North. Armenian troops
will provide security of the Kunduz city airport.

A group of 10 servicemen will leave for Germany January 10, whereas
the rest will arrive in the country January 17.
