ArmInfo. A memorial to the Russian officers killed over Russian-Turkish
wars in the 19th century will be opened in Armenia.

‘I would like to express fair gratitude to the leadership of Armenia
for supporting the initiative on building in Gyumri the memorial to the
memory of 156 officers of the Russian army, killed in the wars against
Turkey on 1855-1877-78. We have arranged that opening of the memorial
will be one of the most important events of celebration in Armenia of
the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War ‘, –
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at today’s press-conference
in Yerevan.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
