/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Early ratification of the Armenian-Turkish Protocols
by the RA National Assembly before the Turkish parliament would
ratify them is in national interest of Armenia, Stepan Grigoryan ,
head of Analytical Center on Globalization and Regional Cooperation
told a press conference in Yerevan.

According to him, any delay in ratification process is to the detriment
of Armenia. "The forces opposed to Armenian-Turkish raproachment and
linking them to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem, gain time to implement
their plans," the expert said.

Fast ratification of the Protocols by the Armenian parliament would
not leave chance to them to link the ratification process to the
Karabakh problem, Grigoryan said.

Verdict of RA Constitutional Court on the Protocols outlined the legal
boundaries, which the Armenian authorities will not be able to cross
in relations with Turkey, the political analyst said.

According to the expert, Turkey is also interested in opening the
border, but delaying the ratification process get the most from
the process.

Protocols on the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations have
been signed on October 10, 2009 in Zurich by the foreign ministers
of Armenia and Turkey, Edward Nalbandian and Ahmet Davutoglu in the
presence of the foreign ministers of France, the United States, Russia
and Switzerland after a series of diplomatic talks held through Swiss
mediation since 2007. According to the Protocols, diplomatic relations
should be established between the two countries and the mutual border,
closed by Turkey since 1993, should be opened. On January 12, 2010
Armenian Constitutional Court acknowledged the constituency of the
Protocols.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
