Iran, Russia, Armenia to hold joint meeting in Yerevan

Moscow, 16 January: Armenian Minister of Transport and Communication
Gurgen Sargsyan met with the Iranian ambassador to Yerevan and stated
that a trilateral meeting among Iran, Armenia and Russia will be held
late January in Yerevan to discuss the construction of Iran-Armenia
railway.

IRNA news agency quoted Armenian prime ministers office as reporting
Saturday [that in the meeting between Sargsyan and Ali Saqqa’ian, the
Armenian official pointed out that last April an MOU was signed
between the two countries to build a railway.

He added that the cost of the railway was estimated to be 1.4 billion
dollars of which Iran said it would pay 400 million dollars.

Armenian prime ministers office reported that the Iranian ambassador
expressed Iran’s firm willingness to construct highways in Armenia,
adding that Iranian banks are keen to finance transportation projects
in that country.
