Today in the Armenian National Academy of Sciences the History,
Genocide and Archeology institutes had organized a scientific
conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Baku pogroms’ 20th
anniversary.

Before starting the works the participants of the conference honored
the memory of the innocent victims of the Baku pogroms.

"Exactly 20 years ago took place a monstrous crime against the peaceful
people and it took place during the Soviet Unions times and if not
the strict and courageous interference of Mr. Lebedev those massacres
would reach to bigger seizes", – mentioned Vladimir Barkhudaryan in
his speech.

"We have to remember those tragedies and massacres for ever as they
have not received their legal assessment by the international society
and as it will not be remembered and condemned such kind of crimes
will always take place", – said V. Barkhudaryan summarizing his speech.

During the conference also took place the presentation of the
documentary film called "An Ordinary Genocide, January 1990" presented
by Marina Grigoryan.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
