Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and his Azeri counterpart Ilham
Aliyev will meet this week, U.S. co-chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group
Robert Bradtke said.

Bradtke is visiting the South Caucasus to prepare the meeting between
the Armenian and Azeri presidents and to study the position of the
Karabakh administration and residents.

The United States will do its best to bring peace and prosperity to
Karabakh, the diplomat said.

The use of force or the threat to use force in the Karabakh settlement
is impermissible, he added.

Bradtke will meet with Karabakh President Bako Saakian in Stepanakert,
according to Karabakh media.

It is impossible to settle the conflict without direct dialog between
Azerbaijan and Armenia, the Karabakh presidential press service cited
Saakian as saying.

Late last week Bradtke met with the Armenian president and foreign
minister in Yerevan. The Russian and French co-chairmen of the OSCE
Minsk Group will visit Armenia on January 20.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
