ROUNDTABLE ON AZERBAIJAN ORGANIZED IN PAKISTAN

Roundtable discussion "Foreign policy of Azerbaijan: important factors,
strategic priorities" has been organized at Preston University in
Islamabad.

The event involved prominent teachers and experts on regional and
international relations, thenews.com.pk reports.

The event was also attended by Azerbaijan’s ambassador in Pakistan
Eynulla Madatli as well as Jordanian ambassador Saleh al-Javarna.

In his speech, the Azerbaijani ambassador informed the participants
about different aspects of Azerbaijan’s external policy.

The ambassador noted that the resolution of the Karabakh conflict is
among the main problems of the country. The diplomat also spoke of
January 20 tragedy and the massacres against civilians committed by
the Soviet troops 20 years ago.

University rector Abdel Basit, in turn, noted that thanks to its
strategic geographical situation Azerbaijan occupies a special place
among the world nations.

He informed the participants that Turkey and Pakistan are the first
countries that recognized independence of Azerbaijan.
