A cold reception of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan in Great Britain
seems not to be connected with the attitude of this country toward the
president and Armenia, former prime minister Grant Bagratyan told
journalists.
Serzh Sargsyan left for a working visit to London on February 9. At
the airport the Armenian delegation headed by the president was
welcomed by the Armenian ambassador in Great Britain and
representative of the Armenian Apostle Church. During the visit
Sargsyan did not meet with country’s Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
"I am more inclined to think that such a reception was the fault of
the organizers of the event for which the president was invited",
Bagratyan said. He considers that the visit was organized badly and
considered that the inviting side merely was unable to ensure the
president’s meeting with Gordon Brown. "It does not matter if the
visit was working or official. At least a telephone call could have
been organized with the British premier, not speaking of meeting
Armenian president at the airport", Bagratyan said.
