THE CATHOLICOSATE OF CILICIA PARTICIPATES IN THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE MECC
UNIT ON CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COMMISSION
The annual meeting of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Unit on
Christian Education Commission was held in Jordan on March 11.
Representatives from MECC member countries, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt
participated in the meeting.
Fr. Mashdots Tchobanian, a member of the Christian Education Unit,
participated in the meeting on behalf of the Armenian Catholicosate of
Cilicia.
The participants in the meeting discussed the activities carried out by the
Unit since the previous meeting. They stressed the imperative of expanding
Christian education on both local and regional levels.
The activities of the Christian Education Unit include the following:
– Ecumenical formation
– Lectures and seminars for the youth
– Educational programs for women
– Lectures around the theme “The role and the presence of Christianity in
the Middle East”
– Education within the family
