The Armenian Government is maintaining a dialogue with the businessmen
working at trade fairs, particularly at jewelry markets, RA Minister
of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan told NEWS.am, commenting on the causes
of traders’ discontent.

He pointed out that the Government is seeking an agreement with the
traders, but they are unwilling to pay taxes. "Everyone must realize
that taxes must be paid in Armenia," Yeritsyan said. The Minister
stated that market traders do not want to provide full information
on their annual incomes.

Jewelry market traders have been holding actions of protest in front
of the RA Government for several days, demanding a meeting with the
Prime Minister.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
